Tree of Knowledge

Tree of Knowledge

This piece was inspired by a split moment vision during a shamanic journey in the Amazon Rainforest. I meandered into a somber vault covered in glyphs. My great curiosity prompted me to approached a dark, central column. With a closer look I noticed the mysterious language engraved on it. As I tried to decipher the message, the column became alive with a multitude of bright eyes, aligned vertically, opening wide and brightly for a very short moment before closing again. I had an instantaneous awareness of my consciousness opening to the maximum of my capabilities in that very instant. This experience was exhilarating and shocking at the same time as it seemed to imprint me with an understanding of our divinity and powerful role as creators of our own reality and lives. The central tree structure of the painting speaks to our connection with the ‘forbidden fruit of knowledge’ which, once ingested, keeps us on the continuous path to learning to know ourselves.
